What Would Olivia Pope Do: Ethical Considerations on Being a Gladiator Without Practicing Law as a Paralegal

Carmen Kyle is a Certificated Paralegal with a specialization in family law. She has over 22 years of experience as a paralegal from areas of law such as asbestos litigation, lemon law, water law, administrative law, and even worked for TxDOT in General Counsel’s Office and The Office of Compliance, Ethics & Internal Investigations.

She is the Owner of Carmen M Kyle LLC, a Family Law Paralegal Firm, in Round Rock, Texas. Her clients are family law attorneys throughout the entire State of Texas. The firm propounds complex and custom family law pleadings, custom discovery requests, and custom discovery responses.

Carmen truly has a passion for what she does, and clients (and their clients) enjoy working with her and her team. Carmen’s passion comes from her personal experience in her personal life and she truly believes that the modifications could have been prevented had there been a creative solution. She strives to educate professionals on the importance of customization in order to avoid modifications in family law cases and to create a dialogue of creativity to solve complex situations. She teaches monthly family law workshops wherein paralegals are encouraged to attend to see a new perspective and making their jobs easier. Carmen’s hero is Olivia Pope (character from the TV show Scandal). In fact, Carmen’s team of paralegals are known as “Gladiators in Pajamas.”

Carmen has a bachelor’s degree from the University of Texas at Austin, a Paralegal Certificate from the University of Texas at Austin, and continuous legal education. She is a Notary Public, is a member of the State Bar of Texas Family Law Section, the State Bar of Texas Paralegal Division, and the Capital Area Paralegal Association. Outside of work, Carmen enjoys spending time with her husband, Russell, their family, friends, her tween son, Logan, and their two fur babies - a Pomeranian named Eleven (yes, named after Stranger Things character) and a Chiweenie named Amy. In fact, her son, Logan, was named after her favorite detective on Law & Order (Detective Mike Logan)

This event qualifies for 1.0 hour of Ethics CLE credit through DAPA.
