Carolyn Southerland, JD | Senior eDiscovery Consultant

With over 25 years of electronic discovery experience, Carolyn Southerland is a leader in developing processes and strategies for electronically stored information. She has extensive experience in the law and process regarding eDiscovery in litigation, arbitration and governmental investigations. Carolyn arrived at CDE following her time as a managing director at internationally known Huron Consulting Group and Morae Global. Before that, she expertly guided major construction and pharmaceutical companies, as well as large municipal entities, through eDiscovery challenges for 20 years at the renowned Baker Botts LLP.

Carolyn completed her undergraduate at the University of Texas at Austin and attended law school at the University of Houston. She is now a senior eDiscovery consultant with CDE, working with ENR-100 construction companies in gathering, filtering and producing data required in litigation and arbitration.


Lauren Abeyta, CEDS | Chief Operating Officer

Lauren Abeyta began her career in 2003 with Vinson & Elkins, LLP in Dallas where she found her passion for diving head rst into each case and working alongside attorneys. From 2005-2016, Lauren focused her efforts as an eDiscovery service provider, helping her clients tailor customized, defensible workflows drawing on her experience in litigation, information governance, legal hold and data preservation, IT infrastructure, and large-scale document review, ultimately earning an executive leadership role with the country’s largest eDiscovery managed review provider. 

Now the Founder & COO of Construction Discovery Experts, Lauren serves as an unbiased adviser to corporations and law  rms in need of eDiscovery expertise focused on efficiency, defensibility and cost-savings. As a Certified eDiscovery Specialist, she takes control of the eDiscovery budget and process by leveraging her deep experience, longstanding relationships, and passion for solving complex problems. Lauren also works with her corporate clients to lead training programs developed around electronic communication, given her unique perspective on the collection and review of employee communications within the eDiscovery phase of her clients' litigation and internal investigations.
