2018 DAPA Student Scholarship Program
Q: WHAT IS THE 2018 DAPA STUDENT SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM?
The DAPA Student Scholarship is awarded to a paralegal student with strong academic performance, exemplary leadership, and an indicated primary career interest in law. The Recipient will receive up to $1,500 scholarship from the Dallas Area Paralegal Association (DAPA). The scholarship fund is supported solely by donations. Q: AM I ELIGIBLE TO RECEIVE THE SCHOLARSHIP?
To be eligible to apply for the 2018 DAPA Student Scholarship Program, one must be (a) currently enrolled and actively participating in, or (b) enrolled in the immediate next term or prior term for, a minimum of 6 hours of study in a Baccalaureate, Post-Baccalaureate, or Associate Degree paralegal education program at a college and/or paralegal school which has attained American Bar Association (ABA) approval or is institutionally accredited and in substantial compliance with the ABA Guidelines in the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex and/or (y) enrolled and actively participating in, or (z) enrolled in the immediate next term or prior term for, a minimum of 6 hours of study in a Post-graduate Paralegal Certificate Program offered by an institution of tertiary education which provides undergraduate and postgraduate education. Applicants must have a minimum 3.0 GPA or grade equivalent.

- Texas Christian University
- Texas Wesleyan University

Q: HOW DO I APPLY?
The Communities Foundation of Texas (CFT) has graciously partnered with the Dallas Area Paralegal Association to service the 2018 DAPA Scholarship Program. The scholarship application can be found on the CFT website. Please click here to apply. You must submit your application by April 1, 2018.
Q: HOW IS THE SCHOLARSHIP RECIPIENT SELECTED?
One paralegal student with demonstrated financial need, strong academic performance, exemplary leadership, and an indicated primary career interest in law will be awarded the DAPA Student Scholarship. Selection criteria include academic performance, essay response, and dedication to paralegal study. Scholarship applications will be reviewed by The Award Committee, appointed by the Scholarship Committee of DAPA and/or the Director at Large. The Award Committee is anonymous and reserves the right to withhold the scholarship award for good cause. A check in the amount of the scholarship award will be sent directly to the school in which the student is/was enrolled. The 2018 DAPA Scholarship Recipient (“Recipient”) will be announced and honored at DAPA’s General Membership Meeting on May 15, 2018.
Q: WHAT ARE THE IMPORTANT DATES TO REMEMBER?
February 5, 2018: DAPA Student Scholarship Program is open for enrollment.
April 1, 2018: Application and supporting materials are due.
May 15, 2018: DAPA Scholarship Recipient is announced and honored at the General Membership Meeting.
